This is my nephew Kyle in the back of his father's Chevy Suburban. Kyle is 15. He is learning to play the guitar, and is fiddling around with my road guitar as we drive. He will be a much better guitarist than I ever will be. He applies himself.
I am passing through town on my way from Boston to Japan, two short days with my family. We are on the way to buy his first car, a 1964 Studebaker Daytona. Right now it doesn't look like much? a lot of rust, leaking gas from the carburetor so much that you can't take it for a test spin, no exhaust? but it has a lot of potential. With a lot of work, it could be a SWEET ride. Kyle sees that, and is willing to do the work, so his dad is buying the car. They can rebuild it together, and have it ready in a year when Kyle gets his driver's license.
15 is a good age to rebuild a car and to build a young man. What will they be like in a year when I get back from Nepal?
